Publication Policies
Publication Policies
The journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and adheres to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), available at https://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines-new/principles-transparency-and-best-practice-scholarly-publishing.
Topics addressed in manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal must be relevant to the journal's aims and scope. Only submissions that have been approved by each author and have not been previously published or submitted to another journal are accepted for review.
In articles submitted to the journal, any change in authorship (addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names) requires the written consent of all declared authors.
Plagiarism, duplication, false authorship/denied authorship, fabrication of research/data, salami slicing/salami publishing, copyright infringement, and conflicts of interest are considered unethical behaviors. All articles that do not comply with accepted ethical standards will be withdrawn from publication, including any potential misconduct discovered post-publication.
Plagiarism
Submitted manuscripts that pass the initial check are screened for plagiarism. If plagiarism/self-plagiarism is detected, the authors are informed. Editors may resubmit the manuscript for similarity checks at any stage, whether during peer review or production, if needed. High similarity scores can lead to rejection of a manuscript before or even after acceptance. Generally, the overall similarity score should be below 15%, depending on the type of article and the percentage similarity score from each source.
Double-Blind Peer Review
After plagiarism screening, suitable manuscripts are evaluated by the editors for originality, methodology, the significance of the topic addressed, and compliance with the journal’s scope. The editor ensures a fair double-blind peer review of submitted manuscripts and assigns articles that comply with formal rules to at least two national/international reviewers. If authors make revisions in line with the reviewers' claims, the article is approved for publication.
The Open Access Policy is based on the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). By “open access” to peer-reviewed research literature, we mean that it is freely available to the public on the internet. This allows any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles. Users can also crawl web pages for indexing, transfer data to software, or use them for any lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those related to internet access.
All published content is freely available online at www.ajoms.com. This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 (CC BY-NC-ND) International License.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Content Policy
Content that promotes, links to, or provides instructions for creating new or existing AI technologies for illegal or unethical purposes (e.g., illegal hacking, generating non-consensual or explicit images, exploitation of AI characters, etc.) is not permitted. The use of AI tools to rephrase, summarize, rearrange, or otherwise alter existing content in a way that results in a derivative work closely resembling the original in concept, structure, or core elements is not allowed. This violates our Plagiarism Guidelines.
Licensing and Copyright Policy
Authors publishing in the journal retain copyright to their work licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license (CC BY-NC 4.0), granting the Publisher non-exclusive commercial rights to publish the work. The CC BY-NC 4.0 license permits unrestricted, non-commercial use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.
Digital Archiving Policy
Digital preservation encompasses a range of processes and activities aimed at ensuring long-term, continuous access to information stored in digital formats. All electronic content (websites, manuscripts, etc.) is stored in three different sources. The content on one server is online and accessible to readers. A copy of the same content is stored on other servers as backups. In the event of a server failure, other sources can be brought online, and it is expected that the website will be accessible within 24 to 36 hours.
Self-Archiving Policy
Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their articles on personal and institutional websites after publication, provided they include full bibliographic details and a link to the original publication.
Fee Policy
All expenses of the journal are covered by the International Association for Migration Studies. There are no article processing charges or submission fees for submitted or accepted articles.
